Today, we get to meet Kassie Damcott, Warren’s administrative assistant in the Public Works Department.

For Damcott, the meaning of community isn’t just an idea – it’s a daily commitment. Through her professional role with the City of Warren, volunteer work and family roots, Damcott has woven herself into nearly every layer of the Warren County community.

Born in 1992 and raised for most of her life in Westfield, N.Y., Damcott is the eldest of five siblings – two girls and three boys. Now an aunt to six nephews, all living in Westfield, Damcott’s family remains a foundational part of her life. Her path to Warren County began after high school, during a life-changing relationship with her now-husband, who served in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011.

The couple endured the distance during his deployment and welcomed their first son Owen, in 2012. They were married in 2014 and began building their life together, balancing the demands of parenting, careers, and two rigorous academy training periods – an 8-week New York State State Corrections Academy followed by a six-month Pennsylvania State Police Academy. After a hectic year, the family moved to Warren in 2016, where her husband was assigned to the Warren State Police barracks. Their second son, Connor was born in 2017.

Now 12 and 7, Connor and Owen are actively involved in sports and community activities – often alongside their parents.

“Any given weeknight,” Damcott said, “you can find us at a wrestling match, a football game, or baseball practice. We’re either cheering, coaching, or working the concessions.”

Kassie began her career with the City of Warren in August 2017, initially hired in the Police Department as the parking supervisor. In December 2021, she transitioned to the Public Works Department as its secretary, where Damcott writes grants, explores funding options for projects, administers grants and helps with DPW administration. She also works collaboratively with other City departments on community outreach and economic development projects.

Her position has led to numerous other opportunities. She is a notary public, acts as recording secretary for several city committees, attends and contributes to public meetings, organizes public events and sub-committees, and serves as director of the city’s Summer Playground Program, coordinating free eight-week programs for youth ages 7-13.

Damcott is also pursuing her bachelor’s degree in business administration through Columbia Southern University, having originally attended Gannon University in 2010.

In 2024, Damcott graduated from Leadership Warren County, an experience that expanded her network and deepened her knowledge of Warren’s potential.

“It opened our eyes to the immense opportunities around us,” she said.

She also served as a welcome committee member and “buddy” for the Wilds Are Working initiative in 2023, helping remote workers experience life in Warren. Damcott helped one family navigate their month-long stay, attending networking events, and community activities. One of the participants remains a close friend to this day.

Damcott is also involved in volunteer work across numerous boards and organizations: president, Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center (WCCAC) – serving on the board for nearly four years; is treasurer of the Warren County Youth Football League where her husband serves as president; treasurer of the Warren County Little League which serves more than 640 players in Warren County; board member on the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center board. Damcott is also on the advisory committee for CASA, is a board member of HEROES, an organization that supports veterans and their families; and is event co-chair of the Warren Area Elementary Center PTO helping plan events like the Trail of Treats and Spring Fling.

Damcott is a past president of the Woofington Dog Park executive board, a group responsible for funding and maintaining the community dog park. She also served as president of the Young Mother’s Study Club, where she helped raise more than $15,000 for local organizations like Caring For Life and The Women’s Care Center.

In 2025, Damcott received the Zonta Women Who Make a Difference Award, a special honor that came with a donation to a nonprofit of her choice. She selected the Young Mothers Study Club, ensuring the gift would help serve other local women and children.

“I never asked for recognition,” she said. “I volunteer because I want to be part of something bigger than me. I want to help create a better community for our children.”

Outside of work and volunteer commitments, Damcott enjoys gardening, reading, and home improvement projects, though she admits she rarely finishes them. A lifelong animal lover, she lives with three rescued cats and a dog, and wishes she had space for even more.

Her family continues to be her biggest source of pride.

“My parents, my husband, and my children tell me they are proud of me, and that’s all I’ve ever needed to know I’m doing the right thing,” she said.

Though she never imagined Warren would be her forever home, Damcott is now deeply rooted in the community and committed to helping it grow. Whether through her work at the City of Warren or her endless volunteer efforts, Kassie Damcott is leaving an indelible mark on the community she calls home.

“I hope to continue learning, supporting, and helping our residents and business owners,” she said. “There’s so much potential here – and I want to be part of that journey.”
