Hospice of Warren County to host children’s grief program fundraiser

Hospice of Warren County is set to host its inaugural fundraising event, Warren County Wonders, on Saturday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Brokenstraw Valley Winery, 100 Hillside Drive, Youngsville.

The event will help raise money to sustain and expand the Schorman Center’s Children’s Grief Program, which provides free grief counseling for children throughout Warren County, regardless of any affiliation with hospice care.

“This program is a lifeline for children who are struggling with loss,” said Lindsay Bevevino, volunteer coordinator and strategic communications at Hospice of Warren County. “Many of these kids don’t have access to grief support elsewhere, and we make sure they get the care they need–at no cost to their families.”

Since its founding 45 years ago, Hospice of Warren County has remained committed to compassionate end-of-life care for the community. However, grief affects more than just those facing terminal illness, it can impact children who have lost loved ones under any circumstance.

The Schorman Center’s Children’s Grief Program ensures that young people navigating loss have access to professional support in a setting where they feel comfortable, often in their own school. The program serves every school district in the county, including Tidioute Community Charter School.

“We’ve worked with over 100 children since 2022,” Bevevino added. “Grief can lead to withdrawal, behavioral challenges, and even long-term emotional struggles. But with the right support, children can process their grief in a healthy way, helping them build resilience that lasts a lifetime.”

Warren County Wonders will feature an afternoon of wine, hors d’oeuvres and an “Experience Raffle,” offering prizes such as getaways, local adventures, and unique experiences.

“This isn’t just a fundraiser–it’s a celebration of community and the impact we can have when we come together,” Bevevino said.

Tickets are $40 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, a complimentary beverage from Brokenstraw Valley Winery and access to the raffle. Tickets are available at Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave., Warren, from Monday through Friday.
