First Church of God in Warren welcomes new senior pastor, Jacob Babinsack

Photo submitted to the Times Observer The Babinsack family, Pastor Jake, Nicole, and their two children, are happy to be part of the First Church of God in Warren.

The First Church of God on Madison Avenue has named Jacob Babinsack as its new senior pastor.

Pastor Jake, as he is affectionately known, is a devoted minister of the Church of God, Reformation Movement (Anderson, Ind.), originally from Ford City, Pa. His journey in faith and ministry has led him to serve in various capacities, including participation in mission trips to the Dominican Republic.

In December 2024, he, his wife Nicole, and their two children moved to Warren, where he now leads the congregation.

Pastor Jake’s passion for ministry is deeply rooted in his commitment to preaching the Gospel, fostering connections within the church, and engaging in community outreach. His love for sharing the message of Christ extends beyond the church walls as he seeks to create meaningful relationships with those in Warren and beyond.

A self-proclaimed motorcycle enthusiast, Pastor Jake and Nicole enjoy riding their Harley and embracing the freedom of the open road.

While Warren’s colder climate presents an adjustment, they eagerly anticipate the arrival of summer when they can explore the area on two wheels.

Pastor Jake’s path to ministry was a profound journey of faith. He initially pursued a career in Biomedical Equipment Technology and spent seven years working in hospitals, testing and repairing medical equipment. However, in 2020, he felt a strong calling from God to enter ministry. After extensive prayer, study, and guidance from spiritual mentors, he embarked on the ordination process with the Church of God, Reformation Movement. He continued working in his biomedical career for several more years while preaching, teaching, and serving the church in various ways, including mission work in the Dominican Republic.

During this same period, Pastor Jake and Nicole felt called to adoption, a journey that ultimately blessed them with their second child. Their deep faith and trust in God’s plan have shaped their family and ministry.

In December 2024, Pastor Jake left his biomedical career and committed to full-time ministry, accepting the position of Senior Pastor at First Church of God in Warren. With previous connections to the congregation through mission trips and the Church of God state campground, Whitehall Camp in Emlenton, PA, it quickly became evident that this was where God was calling him to serve. He describes the church as a welcoming and faith-filled community, eager to grow and share God’s love.

Pastor Jake sees great potential for outreach and engagement in Warren. He is excited about opportunities to share Christ’s love through worship events, community service, family gatherings, and even motorcycle fellowship. He is honored to lead a congregation committed to growing together in faith and impacting the local community.

First Church of God meets every Sunday at 9:30 AM for Sunday School and 10:45 AM for Worship Service. Classes for adults and children, as well as nursery services, are available during both sessions. The church is located at 1111 Madison Avenue, and more information can be found online at www.warrenfcog.com.

The congregation is embracing a “building and growing” theme this year, inspired by Ephesians 4:11-16. Pastor Jake emphasizes the importance of growing into Christ, as highlighted in Ephesians 4:15: “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.”

Pastor Jake strives to be relatable and down-to-earth while delivering messages that inspire and equip believers for Kingdom work. The First Church of God in Warren looks forward to this new season of spiritual growth and community engagement under his leadership.
