Firefighters also took fire engines and gear to several childcare facilities during Fire Safety Week to get children used to seeing firefighters in full gear, see the tools and equipment, and teach basic fire safety skills.
On Friday, the Warren City Fire Department visited Little Dragons Learning Center, where they visited the one and two-year-old classroom and the preschool children.
Functional smoke alarms can reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by more than half, and all residents must ensure that their smoke alarms are in working condition. This campaign serves as a reminder to the public about the life-saving impact of functional smoke alarms and the necessary steps to ensure their effectiveness.
The City of Warren Fire Department offers these essential smoke alarm safety tips and guidelines:

– Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement) of the home.
– Make sure smoke alarms meet the needs of all family members, including those with sensory or physical disabilities.
– Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button.
– Replace all smoke alarms when they are ten years old.
