Superior Tire celebrates 60 years
Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. will host an open house for past and present employees to celebrate its 60th anniversary on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1818 Pennsylvania Ave in Warren. The community is also invited to attend.
Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. will mark its 60th anniversary this month that includes an open house on Saturday.
The company was founded as an automotive retailer and tire recapping business in Warren, on Sept. 15, 1964. On Saturday, the company will host an open house at its 1818 Pennsylvania Ave., Warren, location from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The company has a global reach as an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of industrial components for the material handling, construction, agricultural, municipal, and mining industries.
“This is a proud moment for Superior Tire,” said Hank LeMeur Jr., Superior Tire president and CEO. “We have faced many challenges and exciting wins over the years, and I have no doubt we’re set up to execute strongly in the next 60 years.”
Superior’s vision is to be the vendor of choice by offering its customers a technical advantage, which it attributes to a first-class Engineering department.
“Our team of experienced individuals is focused on improving design and advancing solutions in our markets,” said Joseph Peterson, VP of Engineering and Quality.
Superior Tire adopted the Superior Production System in 2018, emulating the Toyota Production System. This system brings shared vision and language to the production floor. In 2021 the company was honored with an a R&D 100 Award alongside world-famous entities like DuPont and MIT for the company’s AgriTraxx AirCore – a high-performance gauge wheel tire intended for no-till agricultural applications.
“Innovation in manufacturing processes is fundamental to sustaining our continued growth,” said Beau Kibby, Superior Tire vice president of manufacturing and warehousing. “Each day, we challenge ourselves to develop new processes that improve our output while sustaining our quality standards.”
Today, Superior Tire has more than 375 employees who produce nearly 1.3 million parts annually at three manufacturing plants in Warren. The company holds regular open interviews.
