Seasonal sharing: First Lutheran opening herb garden to public
There are many ways for a church to serve a community.
One of the ways that First Lutheran is reaching out is by making an herb garden at the Third Avenue church open for anyone.
“Our church’s herb garden is overflowing with herbs,” Penny Lester said. “It is open to the community and we hope we can entice people to stop by and cut some for their use.”
This year marks the sixth year that the church, located at 109 W. Third Ave. in Warren, has grown an herb garden adjacent to its main parking lot.
“We even have a pair of scissors hanging from a post to help them cut the herbs,” Lester said.
Dill, oregano, sage, basil, thyme and parsley are all available.
“This has been a great year for herbs and we want to share with others,” she said.
The garden is maintained by First Lutheran’s Stewardship Committee as part of its “God’s Work, Our Hands” outreach.
