Blight panel reviews Tidioute properties
The county’s blight panel delayed action on two properties located in Tidioute.
277 Main St. and 5 Scott St., both owned by Nathaniel Weaver, were before the Warren County Blighted Property Review Committee on Tuesday.
“The properties are not in the condition they were initially in,” Weaver’s legal counsel, Sara Flasher, told the committee.
Flasher told the panel that the borough filed 50 citations against Weaver and a hearing was held last month.
She said that 19 of those violations remained and are under an “order of correction” until Sept. 28.
She also explained to the panel some of the challenges Weaver has had securing contractors.
“It’s been a journey,” she said. “The neighboring people in Tidioute (have been) less than supportive of his attempt to work on the properties.”
Weaver said he has spent over $40,000 on the properties this year and is “very interested in them, bringing them up to” standard.
Paul Pascuzzi, who chairs the committee, asked what the plan is for the property.
Flasher said the plan is to rent the homes.
“There’s a lot of tension between him (Weaver) and the borough,” she said, noting that it is probably in her client’s best interest to sell the properties.
“The properties definitely do not look like they did when this was submitted,” she said. “I think it’s premature that these are on the blight list.”
Pascuzzi said it’s rare to have owners participate.
“(It) obviously means he is serious about addressing the situation,” Pascuzzi said.
The committee decided to table action and invite Weaver back to the October meeting.
