Christina Flasher, an emergency room technician at Warren General Hospital, has been named the hospital’s most recent BEE Award winner.

The Being Exceptional Every Day award was developed to honor any hospital employee who is not a licensed nurse at Warren General Hospital. The award was created by nursing leadership to compliment the DAISY Award and honor patient care staff that continuously goes above and beyond for patients and their families every day.

“We are proud to recognize our exceptional healthcare workers,” said Joe Akif, Warren General Hospital chief nursing officer. “They are everyday heroes, and it’s important that they know their work is highly valued. The BEE Award provides a way for us to do that.” Flasher was nominated by Diane Burkey, a current PCT, at Warren General Hospital.

“This girl deserves this award, Christina (AKA Chrissy), goes above and beyond in any assignment given,” Burkey said. “She has taken other seasoned staff (CNAs) and taken the time to teach them their new (PCT) roles, made guides for them to follow to make sure we are set up for success with patient transfers, encourages the staff when confidence is low and builds us up (blood draws, EKG’s, and all the many clerical responsibilities). She always gives that extra hand wherever needed to make sure staff and patients have the best outcome. I have watched her compassion in her approach when it comes to her patients and their families, reassuring them, and explaining every step, of every test, or task she is completing.

She’s accountable- she picks up shifts, she has cross-trained, she is always there to get the job done, and she really strives to make sure the team has whatever needs completed to get the best care for her patients. Chrissy always treats patients, families, and staff with dignity. We are all busy, and all departments have their good and bad days, but if CCU calls on her for assistance, and she’s available, she is there in the blink of an eye- to make sure patient care is completed, and the staff has that extra hand when needed. She has no idea how valued and respected of a coworker she is. And how dearly she is appreciated! Thank you!”
