This summer’s interns at the Warren County Historical Society had some work to do.

Ryan Marino, Cricket Brandstrom and Sydnie Cochran spent their summer moving the society’s mission forward.

“The historical society is a continuous revolving door of activity and each and every intern spent time greeting the public and answering questions with professionalism and enthusiasm,” said Mcihelle Gray, managing director. “Additionally, the interns guided a tour of YMCA summer campers through the museum treating the group to a fun-filled scavenger hunt.”

Marino is heading into his final semester at Slippery Rock, where he’s studying secondary education with a focus on social studies.

Brandstrom, an Eisenhower High School graduate, will be attending Marist College in Florence, Italy, where she’ll study art history.

Cochran is starting her sophomore year at Pitt Johnstown where she’s studying nursing.

Gray said that Marino “spent the summer diligently working to sort through a recent donation of Beaty estate artifacts.

“The historical society accepted several pieces in late June to include over three dozen boxes of ledgers, journals, documents, and images,” she said.

Brandstrom “successfully indexed several National Forge employee ledgers along with installing the Joanie Phelps exhibit at the Wilder Museum.”

She also began indexing and scanning the society’s Personal Photograph collection.

Cochran spent the summer working on the indexing and labeling the C.W. Stone Collection and started work on the Portrait Collection.

“Sydnie worked in the archives at the museum and successfully installed the Joanie Phelps exhibit,” Gray added.

Funding for the internship program was provided through Warren Gives, the Jane Walker Kopf trust and other donors.

“The Warren County Historical Society board of directors, staff, and volunteers would like to thank the donors who made this summer’s internship program possible,” Gray said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
