The headline to this November’s election is undoubtedly the race for the White House.
But there will be races up and down the ballot that could impact life in Warren County more than who wins the presidency.
Several of the Democratic candidates in those races will be in Russell on Saturday night for the Warren County Democrats’ “Grassroots Gathering and Grill” fundraiser.
The event will be held at Larimer Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Katherine Bowley said that the event aims to “welcome and support the growing population of Warren County voters, regardless of their party affiliation, who are interested in choosing Democratic candidates.”
Candidates to speak will include statewide candidates Malcolm Kenyatta (candidate for auditor general) and Eugene DePasquale (candidate for attorney general), Zach Womer (candidate for the 15th District in the House of Representatives) and Erin Willman, who is challenging State Rep. Kathy Rapp.
“This is a great opportunity not only to hear each candidate’s platform, but to meet them, ask questions, and share your concerns and passions,” Bowley said.
The event will feature a hamburger and hot dog bar as well as sides, drinks and cake. A children’s play area will also be available.
Tickets are $25 for adults and available at warrendems.com.
“This is a great opportunity to share your civic participation with your children, and with teens who are honing their political beliefs,” Bowley said. “Live events are a welcome balance to letting the media curate political information gathering.”
