TIDIOUTE — Tidioute officials have signed a 25-year lease with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for the 4-acre property along the Allegheny River.
In 1976, Tidioute Borough entered into a 25-year agreement with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to operate and maintain the boat launch area in Tidioute Borough.
Despite the lease expiring in 2001, Tidioute Borough continued to operate and maintain the premises, demonstrating the community’s commitment to the boat launch area. In February 2023, the Borough Council pursued a new lease with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The council reviewed and signed the new lease in February, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission signed it at their April 28, 2024, meeting.
“It was a long process to get the lease agreement, but this is a positive thing for our community. Now that the lease has been obtained, we can apply for grants for improvements to the boat launch area,” said Borough Manager Amanda Mesel.
