Charges filed in wake of last Thursday’s Task Force raid

Two Clarendon residents remain behind bars in the wake of a joint drug raid by the Warren County Drug Task Force and Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation.

Cody Phinney, 30, and Kara Phinney, 31, were taken into custody in the wake of the June 20 warrant search.

Chief County Detective Thomas Kibbey said that the warrant was served around 9:30 p.m. at a camper located at 57 Rezelle Ln. in the Clarendon Area.

Kibbey said that a “criminal investigation resulted in the application for a search warrant.

“Two defendants … were taken into custody related to the distribution of controlled substances in the Warren County area. The substances being distributed were methamphetamine and fentanyl.”

A total of 113 grams were allegedly recovered of “methamphetamine that field tested positive for the presence of fentanyl.”

In addition, investigators allegedly secured paraphernalia, U.S. currency and digital scales.

Both were charged with dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, two counts of possession with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cody Phinney was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of instruments of crime while Kara Phinney also faces possession of instruments of crime and possession of marijuana.

Online court records show that both are being held on $50,000 bail with preliminary hearings set for today.
