JDFC bringing back ‘Wednesday Walks and Talks’

The Jefferson DeFrees Family Center is bringing back its “Wednesday Walks and Talks” program.

The first installment this season is set for 10 a.m. on May 14.

“Participants are invited to assemble at the doorstep of Jefferson DeFrees Family Center to embark on a leisurely group stroll to and through the idyllic setting of Crescent Park,” Melinda Johnson, executive director of the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, said.

The speaker will be City Arborist Joe Renike, who will discuss urban forestry and the process of selecting trees that are planted around the city.

The program will last one hour and is free and open to everyone.

“We’re excited to kick off another season of Wednesday Walks and Talks, offering a blend of outdoor adventure, education, and community engagement,” Johnson said. “As we come together to explore the beauty of Warren and learn from local leaders like Joe Reinke, we’re fostering connections and appreciation for our shared heritage.”
