Music in the Park in Youngsville is taking 2024 off.

“We need a rebuilding,” Youngsville Mayor Scott Nelson said. “I think we can rebuild it.

The series of concerts is typically held at Island Park each Thursday night from June through August.

“It’s not done,” Nelson added, identifying a need to “redevelop” it and “come back new.”

That might take the form of one band a month or some other model.

He pointed out that there are “a lot of other things that are more important that need to be done” in the community.

He also outlined some personal factors that have made coordinating the music series challenging.

Nelson stressed that he does not “want it to end at all. (We’re) just going to take a hiatus for a year.”
