Ashley Taraska has been honored by Warren General Hospital officials with the hospital’s BEE award.

The BEE (Being Exceptional Every Day) award was developed to honor any hospital employee who is not a licensed nurse here at Warren General Hospital. The award was created by nursing leadership to compliment the DAISY Award and honor patient care staff that continuously goes above and beyond for patients and their families every day.

“It is important our employees know their work is highly valued, and the BEE Program provides a way for us to do that,” said Richard Allen, Warren General Hospital CEO.

Taraska was nominated by a recent patient at Warren General Hospital.

“Ashley was very compassionate about my rash,” the patient wrote. “She took the time out to put lotion on my rash. She respects my feelings every time I come in the ER and makes me feel welcomed and takes such good care of me. When I see her she makes me smile. The way she takes care of me is amazing. Ashley helps me collaborate when I feel unheard and she is always friendly and nice. Not many people do what they say they will for me but Ashley always does and she is honest and accountable if she can’t complete my request. Ashley is like my sunshine. ”

Employees may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Warren General Hospital to receive the BEE Award. Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the honoree’s colleagues, patients and visitors. Each honoree receives a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a gift card at the hospital’s Window Box gift shop, four free lunches at the cafeteria, eight hour awards day off, and a rare crystal called the Bumble Bee Jasper, found at Mount Papandayan in Indonesia.

“We are proud to recognize our exceptional healthcare workers,” said Joe Akif, Warren General Hospital chief nursing officer. “They are everyday heroes, and it’s important that they know their work is highly valued. The BEE Award provides a way for us to do that.”
