The youngest member of Warren City Council has been elected its vice-president.

Four individuals were sworn in to seats on council Tuesday by District Judge Raymond Zydonik.

They include incumbents Maurice Cashman, Danielle Flasher and Phil Gilbert as well as a newcomer – John Barbera.

Flasher was then selected by the council to serve as its vice-president.

“I would like to congratulate everyone elected,” Mayor David Wortman said. “Thank you for your willingness to continue to service.”

John Barbera is sworn in to his first term on Warren City Council by District Judge Raymond Zydonik on Tuesday.

He acknowledged that elected public service is “not always easy” but added that “the rewards long term for the city” are worth it and “the citizens of the great City of Warren are very appreciative of that.”

Wortman said that he had “no doubt” Flasher “will do a fantastic job” as council vice-president.

Flasher said it’s an honor and privilege to serve on council and an even bigger honor to serve as vice-president.

“I look forward to working with you all,” she said, to move the city where “we all prosper as one.”
