The United Fund of Warren County’s annual Torchlight Campaign has passed the halfway point toward its fundraising goal for the year.

Following a donation from Ellwood National Forge, the campaign has raised more than $355,000 of the $710,00 organizers hope to bring in for the year. It is the largest fundraising goal in the campaign’s history.

“In a momentous gesture of community support, Ellwood National Forge proudly presented a substantial contribution to the United Fund of Warren County during the 99th annual Torchlight Campaign,” United Fund Executive Director Lacey Hanson said. “Ellwood National Forge’s generous donation catapulted the United Fund’s fundraising efforts past the halfway mark, underscoring the company’s commitment to the well-being of Warren County.”

The annual Torchlight Campaign funds various community organizations across the county. Funds raised benefit 20 local nonprofits. One Hundred percent of funds raised go directly to the organizations. According to information on warrengives.org, “about 50 percent of the money raised supports kids through scouting, child care, 4-H and the YMCA. Another 20 percent benefits senior citizens through programs at the senior centers in Warren and Sheffield. Counseling through Hospice and Family Services receives ten percent of the money raised and 15 percent goes for emergency services through the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Finally, five percent helps with disability services through New Hope Dogs, BEI, and the Don Mills Center.”

“With the Torchlight Campaign serving as a beacon of hope for the region, Ellwood National Forge’s contribution exemplifies the spirit of corporate responsibility and civic engagement,” Hanson said. “As the campaign progresses, the momentum generated by such partnerships ensures that the United Fund will continue making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need.”

Other major contributors this year include United Refining Co., Edward Oil Co. PNC Bank, ErieBank and Highmark.
