Youngsville set to hold Hometown Christmas

Youngsville’s annual Hometown Christmas event is slated for Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m. with a parade and holiday contests.

The parade is set for Saturday and open for float entries. Prizes will be awarded for float entries.

Those interested in participating can contact Carrie Hendrickson at 814-730-5581.

The event is also open to vendors. There is no charge. Interested vendors can call Sara Robinson at 814-730-4272.

The borough is also holding a house decorating contest. There will be three categories – Reason for the Season, Simply Beautiful and Over the Top – with prizes for first, second and third place in each category. Entries must be received by the borough by Thursday. An entry form is available on the borough website at www.youngsvilleboro.org/hometown-christmas. Entry forms can be emailed to office@youngsvilleboro.org or dropped off at the borough office.

Lights must be on from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday. Winners will be announced during Saturday’s festival. Notice will also be given by phone to winners following the event.

A gingerbread house contest is also being held. According to the borough website, entries must be edible. Supports are allowed, but cannot be visible. Entries can be dropped off at KAMS Logging Supplies between noon and 2 p.m. Saturday and may be picked up at 6 p.m. that evening. There are three categories – ages eight and under, ages nine to 17 and family – and first, second and third place prizes will be given in each category. An entry form is available online at www.youngsvilleboro.org/hometown-christmas. Entry forms can be emailed to office@youngsvilleboro.org or dropped off at the borough office.
