The post office in Pittsfield is temporarily closed as a result of a Thanksgiving vehicle accident.

A U.S. Postal Service spokesperson told the Times Observer that the post office, located at 128 Dalrymple St., “will be temporarily closed due to damage caused by a private vehicle driving into the building” on Thursday.

The spokesperson said that no one was in the building when the accident occurred.

Postal customers will be able to obtain retail and Post Office Box services at the Youngsville Post Office.

Hours at the Youngsville office are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

It’s unclear how long the closure may last.
