District seeks public input in superintendent search
The Warren County School District is seeking input from the public to aid in its search for a new superintendent.
The district, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, has created an online survey to gauge what is important to the public in an incoming superintendent.
The survey consists of four questions asking individuals to rank qualifications and priorities for a potential superintendent to have by importance. The survey is available online at psba2.iad1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3W92m7BSV23Gd5c, or by visiting the district website at www.wcsdpa.org and scrolling down to live feed posts.
The survey is part of a larger first step planning and application process for the search with consultation from PSBA.
PSBA was approved by the district board to provide comprehensive search services at the board’s Nov. 6 meeting at a rate of $15,000. Services include consultation and clerical support from planning through appointment of a superintendent.
“Warren County School District is working with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association to hire the district’s next superintendent,” according to a PSBA statement. “Warren County School District is seeking an individual who is the right fit for both the school district and community. As the superintendent search commences, WCSD is seeking input from all stakeholders regarding the next superintendent of the district. Members of the school community are invited to provide their input.”
The board is looking for a new superintendent after Superintendent Amy Stewart announced her pending retirement in August. Stewart intends to retire in March of next year.
“As we embark on the journey to identify the next superintendent to lead Warren County School District, we are grateful to have the support, experience and expertise of PSBA to navigate this important process,”WCSD board President Paul Mangione said. “We recognize that our next superintendent must possess many key attributes that include, but are not limited to, advocacy experience related to the challenges we face as a rural public school district; innovative problem-solving skills; the ability to manage and oversee major educational and operational district initiatives; and the desire to promote transparency with the board, community and across the district. It’s imperative we identify the right candidate who can successfully build upon the strengths within our district, students and community while identifying areas for advancement too.”
Applications for a superintendent are already being accepted and PSBA expects the process to move relatively quickly.
“The application period opened on Nov. 22 and closes on Jan. 15, 2024. Interviews will occur at the end of January and continue through February,” according to the PSBA statement. “We anticipate finalizing the selection and making an appointment announcement in the spring of 2024. Interested candidates can access the application procedures on PSBA’s Career Gateway. We ask that any specific application questions or concerns be directed to PSBA’s Senior Director of Board Services and Training Shane Pagnotti at shane.pagnotti@PSBA.org.”
