Library to be recognized twice in annual WCCBI awards

Times Observer photo by Brian Ferry The Vote Here sign welcomes voters from the Warren West and Warren South areas Tuesday to cast their ballots at the Salvation Army in Warren. Just when those signs will go up for the 2024 presidential primary remains unclear.

While the Community Service Award is the headliner, it’s just one of many awards the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry presents each year.

Other categories range from “Milestones” to “Growth & Expansion” as well as “Investment in Community” and “Excellence in Business.”

And one community organization — the Warren Public Library — will double-dip.

The Library will be recognized for both its 150th anniversary as well as “Growth & Expansion.”

Looking at “Milestones,” the Struthers Library Theatre followed with 140 years and the Allegheny National Forest’s 100 years is also set to be recognized.

Other “Milestones” include the Zonta Club (95 years), Fourth of July Committee (75 years), Warren County Visitors Bureau (55 years), EmergyCare (40 years), Ellwood and J. Lauren Designs (20 years) and the Allegheny River Clean-Up (15 years.”

The other entity recognized for “Growth & Expansion is the Northern Pennsylvania Regional College.

Three entities will be recognized for “Investment in Community” — Cable Hollow, Community Foundation of Warren County and the Snell Foundation.

A total of six businesses are to be recognized in the “Excellence in Business” category.

The awards will be presented at the WCCBI’s annual dinner and awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 16. At the Conewango Club. Social hour starts at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and then the awards.

Tickets to the event are $50 each or a table of 10 for $400 and RSVPs need to be in by Nov. 9.
