Beaty Park pavilion, park vandalized

The newly constructed pavilion and the playground at Beaty Park has gotten some unwanted, unrequested, new artwork added to it.

The “artwork” consisted of several obscenities and sexually oriented graffiti.

“We can’t have anything nice,” said Charles Anderson, a Warren resident who happened to be eating his lunch at the pavilion this afternoon. “We just had this stuff built for all of us to enjoy and this is what happens. I really don’t want to look at this garbage, but it’s nice to get out and eat lunch while the weather is still nice.”

Anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to call the Warren Police Department.

The pavilion was built this summer after city officials decided to demolish the old pavilion and build one closer to the new playground in the park. One of the reasons to move the pavilion, according to Mike Holtz, city manager, was the former site’s location that didn’t allow police to patrol it from the road.

Starting at $3.50/week.
