Warren man earns banking honors

Shawn Walker

Shawn Walker of Northwest Bank was announced as the recipient of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association’s 2023 Young Professionals Champion Award.

The Young Professionals Champion Award honors a senior leader who inspires and promotes the growth of young professionals in the industry. The award is part of PA Bankers’ Future Under 40 Awards program, which recognizes banking industry leaders, aged 40 years and younger, who have made a tremendous impact on their institution, the community and the industry.

This recognition honors Walker for his outstanding contribution as the advisor to Northwest Bank’s Next Level Professionals Employee Resource Group (ERG). He was nominated because of his dedication to bridging the gap between young professionals and Northwest Bank’s leadership team, including executive management and the Board of Directors. His efforts have resulted in new opportunities for connection, idea-sharing and promoting mutual understanding between these groups.

“At Northwest Bank, we recognize that our young professionals are a vital component to our company’s successful future and we value their ideas, thoughts and perspectives,” stated Lou Torchio, Northwest Bank president and CEO. “Today, we acknowledge and celebrate Shawn’s efforts to foster connections and promote mutual understanding between our youngest generations and bank leadership. We are proud to have Shawn as part of our executive leadership team, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his contributions.”

Walker, a Warren resident, has been employed by Northwest Bank since 2008 and currently serves as executive vice president of communications and regional marketing, overseeing corporate communications and public relations. In addition to his role as Northwest Bank’s Next Level Professionals ERG advisor, Walker is an active participant in the company’s senior mentorship program where he advises rising leaders from across the organization.
