Saturday September 23 is Audubon birdseed order deadline

A flock of Blue Jays are pictured eating bird seed. Saturday, Sept. 23, is the deadline for ordering bird seed and related treats from Audubon Community Nature Center’s Fall Birdseed Sale.

The Audubon Community Nature Center offers birdseed at a discounted rate during sales twice a year, providing savings for you and support for nature education.

Orders are due by Saturday, Sept. 23, for Audubon’s Fall Birdseed Sale, which gives area residents an opportunity to save and support Audubon at the same time.

Non-Nature Center members receive 10% off ACNC’s Conewango Blend birdseed retail prices; Nature Center members receive an additional 10% off (20% total).

Conewango Blend, unique to ACNC, was developed to attract favorite and common fall species of the region such as chickadees, cardinals and titmice. There are also suet cakes for woodpeckers and a mix to attract finches. To place an order, call 716-569-2345 during business hours, stop by the Nature Center, or use the printable order form or order online at AudubonCNC.org/shop. Orders can be picked up Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will load the fresh seed, direct from the supplier. Call 716-569-2345 ahead of time if unable to pick up orders Oct. 14.

Audubon’s own Conewango Blend is available year-round in the Blue Heron Gift Shop in the Nature Center and at Ashville General Store, Ashville, N.Y.; Ekey Marketplace, Warren, Pa.; Howe’s True Value, Warren, Pa.; Lighthouse Point Grocery, Mayville, N.Y.; Oneida Lumber, Warren, Pa.; Vitality Natural Health and Wellness Center, Lakewood, N.Y.; and Wegmans, Jamestown, N.Y.

Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren. Visit the nearly 600-acre nature preserve and visit with Audubon’s three live birds of prey, enjoy the native tree arboretum, gardens, picnic areas and natural play space and hike the six miles of trails dawn until dusk daily for free.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
