Planning commission approves easement in Brokenstraw
The Warren County Planning Commission approved one request and took procedural action on two other properties Tuesday evening.
The commission approved waiving a requirement for a five-foot frontage distance for two lots on Irvine/Tidioute Road in Brokenstraw Township. The property owner is taking two properties totaling 150 feet and dividing them into 75-foot lots. Normally, a property is required to allow a minimum frontage if it has water and sewage service.
Two actions in the City of Warren were before the commission for potential recommendations. The commission’s involvement is procedural and does not have any binding impact on the disposition of the proposals. The city will make final decisions regarding the requests.
A property owner at 318 Union St., between Pennsylvania and Fourth avenues wants to annex two adjacent properties to create a single lot. The commission provided no recommendation.
A property owner has requested an alley which ends in a deadend near 1513 and 1515 ¢ Pennsylvania Ave. be vacated by the city. Adjacent property owners have signed off on the move. It was the first time a request from the city for recommendation on a street vacation had been before the commission. The commission made no recommendation.
While the commission did not make any recommendations on the two requests, it did not oppose them either.
Warren County Planner Dan Glotz reported advertising will begin soon for comment on the county’s comprehensive plan. A public hearing will then be held before potential adoption of the plan by the end of the month.
Once work on the comprehensive plan is complete, Glotz said planning intends to focus on setting up a housing study for the county. The county will look into grant funding to complete the study and will need to hire a consultant. The housing study will take approximately a year, according Glotz.
Work on the county’s 25-year long-range transportation plan is also underway and will likely be completed by the end of the year.
