Warren has most expensive gas in region

Gas prices spiked throughout the region this week, rising by an average of 13 cents per gallon.

The regional average is now $3.86 while the price of a gallon in Warren is $3.89, according to the AAA East Central Gas Price Report.

That places Warren with the most expensive gas in the region.

And it could have been worse.

The national average surged 16 cents over the past week to $3.75.

“The primary cause is the cost of oil,” the report concludes, “which has increased nearly $4 in the past few days to hover near $80 per barrel.

According to AAA, the price of oil accounts for nearly 50 percent of the cost of a gallon of gas.

So as oil goes, so goes gas.

“Due to extended repair timelines at refineries, lower refinery oil usage rates typically influence how much oil prices rise,” the report details.

The cheapest gas in the area can be found in Beaver, New Castle and Sharon at $3.78.

Starting at $3.50/week.
