Route 62 to be closed Sept. 9, 10

A bridge replacement on Route 62 between Irvine and Tidioute will result in a closure of the road on Sept. 9 and 10.

The work will repair the bridge over Lenhart Run, located just over a mile south of Irvine.

Weight restrictions have been in place on the bridge for over a year.

“The roadway was to be closed last weekend, but the closure was delayed due to equipment related issues,” Saxon Daugherty, PennDOT safety press officer said. “The rescheduled closure is expected to be in place on September 9 and September 10, 2023. One lane of the bridge is expected to be reopened on the morning of September 11, 2023, with traffic controlled by a temporary signal.”

The car detour for that weekend will be nearly 40 miles.

It will be posted and use Route 62, Route 127, Tidioute Creek Rd., Route 27 and Route 6.

A truck detour will be posted using Route 62, Route 36, Route 27 and Route 6.

This is one of two planned weekend closures.

“Another weekend detour is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2023, and Sunday, October 1, 2023,” Daugherty said.
