Rally in the Valley set for Saturday

Photo provided to the Times Observer The Rally in the Valley — including the Thank A Vet Dam Run over the top of the Kinzua Dam, shown here — is set for Aug. 26. The event is slated to include the ride, blues and food. All proceeds will be donated to the Veteran’s Emergency Fund.

There’s a “Rally in the Valley” set for this Saturday in Warren.

And a local veteran emergency fund will stand to benefit. “We have the bikes pay $25 per bike and we go across the Kinzua Dam,” organizer Jeff Frailey said. “100 percent of the $25 fee goes to the Warren County Veterans Emergency Fund.”

Last year, more than 330 bikes participated and $9,000 was raised for the Warren County Veterans Council’s Veteran Emergency Fund. “We’ll be at Betts Park for registration starting at 8 a.m. and we will kick stands up and rolling at 10:45 a.m.,” Frailey said.

The first stop will be the Eagles Club in Warren, where the ride will also end. The full ride will be 110 miles.

Live blues music, food and prizes will await riders at the Eagles Club. The party starts there at 4 p.m. and the Riffriders will headline the music.

The idea for the event grew out of the Thank A Vet Dam Run that Shawn Castro had designed to take riders over the top of the Kinzua Dam.

2022 marked one of the biggest crowds the event has yet seen.

For comparison, the group donated $9,000 in 2019 as well but that included the ride and a big event downtown. Last year, just the ride generated $9,000.

The emergency funds are open to any veteran residing in Warren County and can be used for things like utility bills, medical bills and prescriptions.

Starting at $3.50/week.
