Warren man facing aggravated assault charges

A Warren man was taken to jail after reportedly spitting on officers and grabbing a nurse while severely intoxicated Tuesday.

Michaelangelo Miranda, 23, of Warren, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, three counts of simple assault, and harassment.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police responded to a report of an intoxicated person outside of a Pennsylvania Avenue East business.

Police found two people trying to take Miranda to Warren General Hospital, according to the affidavit. Miranda was “aggressively pinning” one of them “to the seat.” That alleged victim, who had reportedly been trying to keep Miranda from jumping out of the moving vehicle, had visible abrasions and bruises, according to police.

“Miranda had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath,” according to the affidavit.

Police handcuffed Miranda and removed him from the vehicle, according to the affidavit. As officers were trying to get Miranda “into to the rear of the patrol car, he intentionally spit on them both,” according to the affidavit.

At the hospital, Miranda “forcefully grabbed a nurse’s finger and would not let go,” causing a laceration to her finger, according to the affidavit.

Miranda was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Raymond Zydonik and taken to Warren County Jail after failing to post $50,000.

Starting at $3.50/week.
