UPDATE: State police have ‘no reason to believe’ Burham has left area
Cecile Stelter, public information officer, addresses the media during one of the updates on Friday regarding Michael Burham.
Jail escapee Michael Burham is believed to be in the general area of Warren County, according to a Saturday afternoon update from the Pennsylvania State Police.
Operational command shifted from the City of Warren police to the Pennsylvania State Police Friday night.
“We ask the public to keep their residences, outbuildings and vehicles secured at all times,” Troopers said in a statement on Saturday.
“Multiple areas have been checked and the public should continue to expect to see an increased law enforcement presence throughout Warren County,” the statement explained.
“We have no reason to believe Burham has left the general area,” an update Saturday afternoon states. “Burham is a self-taught survivalist with military training and could be potentially held up in a wooded area.”
They indicated in the update that “it is possible for him to have changed clothes” from the initial jumpsuit and denim jacket he escaped with.
Troopers say that the U.S. Marshals Service has added a $7,500 reward – on top of $2,000 from Warren County Crime Stoppers – for information leading to his arrest.
“This remains a very fluid and active investigation which is being conducted in conjunction with our law enforcement partners.”
