Three Warren County School District students brought home a top-10 finish from the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference.

A total of four students represented the district among the 14,000 students at the conference held June 27 through 30 in Atlanta.

The team of Devin Stover, Andrew Morgan and Liam Smaroff finished in ninth place in Network Design after winning the Pennsylvania State championship in April.

Jordan Cameron advanced to nationals as a sophomore after finishing fourth in the state in the Introduction to IT category.

“The three had to take a test on the morning of the 27th that assessed them on different network topologies, standards and practical uses,” Warren County Career Center IT Teacher Scott Burroughs said.

The career center team was one of about 150 that took that test. The team advanced past that round.

“On Thursday, the top 15 teams based on their test scores were randomly assigned a time where they were given a case-study problem,” Burroughs said.

The students had the case study for 20 minutes before having seven minutes to present a solution to a panel of judges.

The students explored the city while they were there, including Coca-Cola World. “They learned about the company’s start and sample different soft drinks from around the world,” Burroughs said. “They loved the Beverly Soda from Italy.”

As part of the conference, the students attended workshops on building resumes, standing out from others, and the importance of soft skills in the workplace, Burroughs said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
