Nursing program graduates 13 in Warren

A new batch of nurses are ready to get to work.
A total of 13 students have graduated this spring from the Warren County camps of Venango Technology Center's Practical Nursing Program.
Graduation was held June 24 at the Warren State Hospital Chapel.
As each student walked in, they were carrying a lantern. "The lantern is symbolic of Florence Nightingale, the historic nurse credited with founding nursing education programs," Dr. Cynthia Cornelius, program coordinator explained.
Graduates include Cassandra Bull, Faith Button, Ashleigh Deppen-Quigley, Kennedy Detsch, Morgan Garvin, Karen Grinnell, Angeleigh Jordan, Debra Mahood, Alexis Myers, Jocelyn Rieder, Tabatha Sheldon, Ashley Wilson and Faith Wynn.
Cornelius said Jordan was "recognized for the highest academic achievement award." Other recognitions included Wilson for perfect attendance and Button, Detsch and Wilson for participation in student government.
"Faith Button thanked family and friends for their support in her speech. Fellow graduates were praised by Kennedy Detsch in her speech," Corneilus said. "Ashley Wilson provided a speech acknowledging the efforts of the faculty. Following the three speeches, all students stood and joined together to recite the Practical Nurse's Pledge."
