Regional Gas prices hold steady
Gas prices largely held flat this week.
The regional price dropped by a cent to $3.66 but the average price in Warren held steady at $3.699, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.
Nationwide, the average fell three cents to $3.55 in spite of an uptick in demand over the Memorial Day weekend. “The cost of crude oil, which accounts for more than half of the cost of a gallon of gas, has been staying in the low $70s per barrel and even dipped into the $60’s last week,” according to the report. “The drop in crude prices has contributed to lower gas prices.
Data from the Energy Information Administration shows that total domestic crude inventories increased while gas demand fell. “Lower demand has helped to cap increases in pump prices,” the report concludes.
The cheapest gas in the region can be found in DuBois with a $3.44 average while the most expensive was reported in Beaver at $3.74.
