Photo submitted to Times Observer The Warren Philharmonic, joined by students from the Warren County Summer Music School, performs the annual Pops by the Fountain concert. This year’s event will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29.

The Warren Philharmonic is bringing its music to downtown Warren again this year with the annual Pops by the Fountain.

The concert will feature up to 80 performers – including philharmonic members and musicians from Warren County Summer Music School.

It will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, on Second Avenue between Pennsylvania Avenue and Liberty Street.

“This performance serves as the unofficial kickoff to the annual Warren 4th of July celebration,” President Brenda Schnick said. “Many performers from the Warren County Summer Music School will play a special role in this concert including dancers, chorus, and individual soloists.”

The concert will open with a bagpipe fanfare, followed by ‘Hungarian Dance No. 5.’

After that, the music will include a mixture of patriotic and popular selections. “This year’s pop selections are ‘Blue Tango,’ ‘Sounds of the Carpenters,’ and ‘Mamma Mia,'” Schnick said. “Other patriotic selections include ‘Star Spangled Spectacular,’ ‘Finale,’ ‘Washington Post March, and ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever.'”

There will be a 5 p.m. rehearsal at the fountain on the day of the concert.

“The public is invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy both the rehearsal and concert,” Schnick said. “In case of rain the concert will be held at Warren Area High School.”
