Nursing scholarships presented to county students

Keverline Medical Scholarship, awarded to Warren County high school seniors who are entering a field of study to prepare for a career in health care, are (from left): Carly Beers, who plans to pursue a physician assistant course of study at Allegheny College, Audrey Smith, who will pursue a nursing degree at Robert Morris University, Linda Keverline, Kayla Welch, who will pursue nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, and Alexis Hoffman, who will pursue nursing at Jamestown Community College.
On Monday, members of the Mary Edwards Conarro Nursing Scholarship Committee presented scholarships to five graduating students who plan to study nursing as they move on.
The scholarship winners were: Sydnie Cochran, who will attend the University at Pittsburgh at Johnstown; Alexis Hoffman, who will attend Jamestown Community College; Jayna Phillips, who will attend Mercyhurst University; Audrey Smith, who will attend Robert Morris University; and Kayla Welch, who will attend Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Committee members Mary Conarro, who attended St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Joyce Puleo, who attended Pitt-Johnstown, and Judy Champlin, who attended JCC, were on hand to present the scholarships. Committee members Ann Ferguson, Peggy Morgan, and Susie Pirillo were not available for the presentation. There was some overlap of those recipients and another group.

Keverline worked with a panel of medical professionals to review and evaluate the applications for the scholarships.
Both presentations were made Monday at the Community Foundation of Warren County on Second Avenue in Warren.
