Gas price flat in Warren County

Gas prices fell two cents across the region this week though the price in Warren held flat.

The average in western Pennsylvania sits at $3.67. Here, it’s $3.69.

But maybe staying steady isn’t so bad.

According to the AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report, the national average rose three cents due to “the seasonal surge in gasoline demand leading into the long holiday weekend.”

The national average for a gallon is $3.57.

The report outlines how the national increase could have been higher than it was.

“The rise in gasoline demand is helping to push pump prices higher, but the increases are tempered by the lower cost of oil, which is currently in the low $70s per barrel,” the report explained. “Today’s national average is four cents less than a month ago and $1.04 less than a year ago.”

Broader economic concerns continue to tamp down the price.

“Oil prices rose amid growing market optimism that energy demand is rebounding,” the report explained. “However, price increases were capped due to the market expecting another interest rate increase from the U.S. Federal Reserve, which could result in the economy tipping into a recession.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
