Warren man facing rape charge in Dec. incident
A Warren man charged with indecent assault last week after he and a 15-year-old girl were allegedly found unconscious in a vehicle now faces additional charges including rape of an unconscious victim.
Mitchell A. Bryant, 23, was charged initially with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and two counts of indecent assault.
Additional charges appear to have been added at a Wednesday preliminary hearing as online court records show additional charges including rape of an unconscious victim and an additional count of aggravated indecent assault.
According to City of Warren Police, Bryant and a 15-year-old female were found unconscious in a vehicle at a fuel station in the city in December.
As she was removed from the vehicle to be transported to Warren General Hospital for treatment, the girl was found to have no clothes on from the waist down, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Responders reportedly administered Narcan to Bryant.
The alleged victim told police she remembered paying Bryant for a ride to a friend’s house.
She said they both used what she believed to be cocaine in the vehicle, according to the affidavit, and didn’t remember anything, including undressing, after the vehicle turned onto Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the affidavit.
A sexual assault kit was taken and eventually brought back a DNA match for Bryant, according to the affidavit.
The alleged victim told police she did not consent to having sex with the defendant.
The following defendants entered guilty pleas during preliminary hearings also held Wednesday:
¯ Heidi L. Chalupczynski, 38, Erie, to possession of drug paraphernalia. A traffic offense was withdrawn.
¯ Nicole A. Griffin, 30, Warren, to theft by unlawful taking. A count of theft by unlawful taking was withdrawn.
¯ Kenenth A. Hadden, 28, Warren, to statement under penalty.
¯ Axel L. Johnson, 61, Grand Valley, to theft of property lost by mistake.
A count of harassment was withdrawn against Alex J. McKoon, 27, Warren. An additional count of harassment was re-categorized as a non-traffic offense.
