The Cornplanter Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Brokenstraw Fish and Game Club are hosting an Earth Day awareness event.

The Earth Day Spring Conservation and Fishing Show will be held from 11 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and will feature some special guests from the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited.

“Come and see what we do,” TU Chapter President Scott Dyke said. “Celebrate Earth Day and learn what your local conservation groups are doing to keep your outdoors pristine.”

In addition to TU, it will feature guests from several conservation organizations and presentations.

Among those will be a hydrologist from the Allegheny National Forest talking about projects on Farnsworth Creek, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and the Conewango Creek Watershed Association talking about their efforts, the Seneca Nation Hellbenders Project, and others.

“We’ll have a table for Trout in the Classroom,” Dyke said.“There will be a fly-tying demonstration and training and fly-casting demonstration,” Dyke said. “Wrightsville Community Church Youth is the food vendor.”

There will be fund-raisers, raffles, and door prizes.

“It’s going to be a good time,” he said. “We hope to get people interested and maybe get some members.”

He said he hopes to make the event an annual one.
