Sheffield Library to host actress via Zoom
If you like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Criminal Minds” or “General Hospital,” you’ll be interested in an event this evening at the Sheffield Library.
Actress Brea Bee will talk live via Zoom with the Library at 5 p.m. as part of a book and movie discussion of “Silver Linings Playbook.”
The event is part of a week-long celebration of National Library Week.
Christine Porter, library director, said that Bee played “Nikki” in the film in addition to many other roles including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “General Hospital,” “Criminal Minds,” “For The People” and the recurring role of Sylvia Gallagher on the Hulu series “Light As A Feather.” She also portrayed her own mother in the sitcom “The Goldbergs.”
“I’ve known her since we were kids singing and performing at local community theaters and high school productions together,” Porter said. “So I’m excited to bring her via Zoom to the Library to talk to folks about her LA experiences.”
Wednesday will also see a storytime and songs time at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday along with pizza muffins.
Other events are also planned throughout the week.
A family movie night is set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday while space is still available or a “Kids Read to Pets” program from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
“Kids of all ages will spend 15-20 minutes reading, engaging, and connecting with our special Library dog, Zygi,” Porter said. “Help build your child’s confidence in reading by participating in this very special program. There will be books to choose from or you may bring your own.”
Registration for that event is required by calling (814) 968-3439 or by email to librarian@sheffieldlibrary.org.
There’s also a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card with the week’s events.
Porter said people who signed up for a new library card, update registration information or upgrade their library card to the newest design will be eligible.
“Most people know about the wealth of stories available at the library, from picture books and large print to audiobooks and e-books. But there’s so much more to the story of libraries,” Porter said. “Libraries are welcoming spaces that bring communities together for entertainment, education, and connection through book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, classes, lectures and more.”
