City spring cleanup set to start April 10
Times Observer file photo City crews will take the wood chipper, among other equipment, to the city’s streets later this month as part of the annual spring cleanup effort.
As the region moves from winter into spring, yardwork season will commence.
And for property owners in the City of Warren that are ready to go, the Spring Clean-up Program is set to kick off April 10.
It’s an opportunity for residents to have leaves, hedge and brush clippings, tree limbs and branches collected.
Department of Public Works Superintendent Joe Reinke said city crews will make one round throughout the city to provide curbside service.
“But if people miss it or want to go early or later, the compost facility is open all week and Saturday in the morning over on Harmar St.,” he said.
For those planning to take advantage of the curbside service, the city does have several requests. Lawn refuse can’t be mixed with tree limbs and branches and instead should be placed in containers. Leaves should be piled separately. Tree limbs and branches should be piled separately with all cut ends facing the same direction.
Items like stone, brick, concrete, dirt or boards will not be collected.
Residents are asked to have the items they wish to have collected at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day scheduled.
“This is the only collection program the City provides,” the city said in a statement. “Cooperation of residents is appreciated and will help contain the increasing costs for providing these services. Certain unanticipated circumstances could delay the program.”
