Sugar Grove man charged with failure to register

A sexual offender faces additional felony charges for allegedly failing to fulfill his registration requirements.

Theodore J. McKendree, 40, of Sugar Grove, is charged with failure to register with Pennsylvania State Police and failure to provide accurate registration information.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, McKendree had been notified by mail that he was due to register between Jan. 31 and Feb. 9.

Police spoke with McKendree in person on Feb. 21, advising him that he was in violation of his requirements, according to the affidavit. McKendree reported to the PSP barracks on Feb. 22. “McKendree was not in compliance with his registration requirements,” according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, a trooper attempted to contact McKendree on March 7 at the phone number listed on his registration. The trooper was told McKendree had a different number. A call to that number showed that the number was McKendree’s. “McKendree is required to update his registration when he gets a new phone or phone number,” according to the affidavit.

McKendree was arraigned Friday before District Judge Laura Bauer and released on his own recognizance.

A preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22.

Starting at $3.50/week.
