Barr announces candidacy for treasurer
Lisa Barr
Lisa Barr has announced her intent to seek the Republican nomination to serve as Warren County treasurer.
A 2008 graduate of Jamestown Business College, Barr currently works as the deputy county treasurer under Denny Munksgard, who has declined to see another term.
“As Deputy Treasurer for the past three years, I have had the privilege of meeting many of you personally,” she said.
“It is always a good feeling to serve the people of Warren County, answering your questions and offering the services necessary to complete your business here.”
She highlighted how the office works with multiple county departments — tax claim, register and recorder, assessment, planning and zoning, to deposit and disburse funds.
“Balancing these accounts regularly is where my accounting experience is necessary, since the monetary collections inside the courthouse ultimately travel through our office to the proper bank accounts,” Barr said. “The position requires attention to detail, problem solving and accuracy, all skills that my experiences as Deputy Treasurer have helped refine.”
Barr said her family has lived in Sugar Grove for 18 years and been involved in many community events and organizations. Her husband, Ross, captains his own fishing charter business and is also a heavy equipment operator.
“Working these past three years as your Deputy Treasurer, I feel that I have acquired the capabilities to perform in the position of Warren County Treasurer, for you, the residents of Warren County,” she said. “I look forward to continuing this service and any challenges ahead of me…. Experience in this position matters.”
