It was a big move, but not a long one.

West End Take Out has changed its name and moved a little farther west.

Lawson’s West End now occupies what many will remember as Chiodo’s Ferro Cucina.

The business officially opened at 11 a.m. Thursday after celebrating a grand opening an hour earlier.

Pennsylvania State Rep. Kathy Rapp, Warren County Commissioners Ben Kafferlin and Tricia Durbin, and Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry Director of Chamber Operations and Tourism John Papalia joined owners Ian and Megan Lawson at the opening celebration.

The move was a major step in the Lawsons’ plan to “expand and grow” the business, Ian Lawson said.

West End Take Out had operated for 25 years — the last two under the Lawsons’ ownership.

Just west of there, a few properties down and across Pennsylvania Avenue, was a restaurant that had been Pace’s, Viglo’s, Gilbert’s, and Chiodo’s over the years.

The former location had no seating for patrons. It was, as the name said, a take-out restaurant.

Now, West End will be able to seat 100 customers.

“We have space for 57 or 58 in the front and in the back we’ll be in the 40s,” Ian Lawson said.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
