Sugar Grove home destroyed in fire

Fire destroyed a Sugar Grove home early Monday.

The homeowner at 11190 Jackson Run Road called in the fire before 6 a.m. and all of the occupants made it safely out of the house, according to Justin Darr, second assistant chief of the Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department. There were no injuries to report related to the fire.

Eight departments — Sugar Grove, Lander, Wrightsville, Youngsville, Bear Lake, Starbrick volunteer fire departments in Warren County, and Busti and Lakewood fire departments from Chautauqua County, N.Y. — responded to the blaze.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 5:51 a.m., Darr said. When they arrived, the house was fully involved.

Firefighters worked the fire with an exterior attack, but were unable to save the house.

Darr said the structure was a total loss and the home was uninsured. The Red Cross has been notified.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Darr said.

During the battle, Jackson Run Road was shut down in the area of the fire.

Firefighters were on the scene for about five hours Monday morning, with Sugar Grove returning to station at 10:41 a.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
