Preliminary hearing continued in drug death case

A preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday in the case of a woman charged with drug delivery that resulted in death has been continued.

Stephanie S. Kightlinger, 27, of Youngsville, remains in the Warren County Jail on a litany of drug charges.

The continuance was granted at the request of defense counsel. Online court records do not yet indicate when the hearing has been rescheduled.

In addition to the charge of drug delivery resulting in death, Kightlinger was charged with five counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and possession with intent to deliver controlled substances. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the City of Warren Fire Department responded to a Pennsylvania Ave. W. address for a report of a cardiac arrest on Sunday, Dec. 18. The male victim was declared dead at the scene, according to police.

“After the male’s passing, officers were notified that circular blue pills … that had an ‘M’ imprint on them … were found,” according to the affidavit.

The criminal complaint alleges that “Kightlinger did deliver and give suspected fentanyl to another person resulting in death.”

Police interviewed Kightlinger on Jan. 24, according to the affidavit. “The defendant admitted to purchasing and delivering the above pills to the deceased just prior to his death.”

The name of the victim was not released by police nor listed in the court documents.
