Borough seeking public input on redevelopment
The Borough of Youngsville has been working to improve its look for years.
The streetscape program has been the big step in the process to this point.
On Wednesday, there will be an opportunity for the public to weigh in on what kinds of things they would like to see, what ideas they have, and generally how to move forward.
There will be a public meeting at 5:30 Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Youngsville Borough Building to discuss downtown revitalization. The event is being co-hosted by the borough and Revitalization of Youngsville.
The meeting will bring together public officials, stakeholders, the borough’s consultant — Downtown Redevelopment Services LLC of Ohio, and anyone else who wants to play a role.
“If they want to participate in the redevelopment of the downtown, fantastic,” Borough Manager Wendy Wilcox said.
“This is a kickoff,” she said.
Downtown Redevelopment “brings in your public comment, they will look at your structures, do market analysis, look at ordinances…” Wilcox said. “They’re looking for public input.”
The company sent a secret shopper to the borough to get a feel for the downtown last week.
The results of that visit will be shared at the meeting, Wilcox said.
This redevelopment effort is more than the streetscape.
“It started with the Streetscape,” Wilcox said. “We’ve applied for that three times now. The streets are only one part of revitalization. I wanted something that pulled it all together.”
