Fire alarm results in TCCS evacuation

Tidioute Community Charter School was evacuated on Thursday.

There were no injuries nor damage, and the school will be in session on Friday.

The school’s fire alarm system activated from “smoldering dust in the shop area ventilation system,” according to Office Manager Heather Cass. “Fire was contained inside the vent and was extinguished inside the vent immediately.”

“The vent was removed from the building and cleared,” Cass said.

It will be cleaned and inspected before it is put back in service.

“We had no damage to the building or to the ventilation system,” Cass said. There are no lingering impacts from the fire.

The alarm did result in clearing the school.

“Students and staff exited the building safely,” she said. “TCCS will be in session as usual on Friday.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
