Dollar-for-dollar match on tap for Kettle Campaign

If you’ve been thinking about donating at a Salvation Army Red Kettle, Friday would be a really good day to do so.

All contributions to the kettle will be matched on Friday only.

Capt. Dorothy Budd said there’s no limit on that match.

“We are about (the) same as last year which gives us hope that we will meet our goal,” Budd said. “This is an opportunity we wanted to let the community know about as we didn’t have much time to get the information out.”

Budd said that they are not sure how much additional funding this match might raise but they are hoping to raise $5,000 as part of this specific match opportunity.

The goal of the total campaign this year is $75,000.

This isn’t the first special effort undertaken as part of the kettle drive this year.

A group of Garys — Gary Lester, Gary Kell, Gary Sawtelle, Gary Candreia, Gary Finger and Gary Landrio — have committed to ringing bells all day at Shurfine on Dec. 16.

Budd said Shurfine, along with Walmart and Tops, are the most active kettles in the area.

Donations to the campaign remain 100 percent in Warren.

“All the money raised here goes back to our community to help those in need all year long,” Budd said.
