A Warren man faces 15 years of registration as a sexual offender as a result of a plea entered Thursday.
Chase A. Bies, 19, pleaded no contest to charges of corruption of minors and indecent assault before Judge Gregory Hammond at the Warren County Courthouse.
Charges of corruption of minors, furnishing liquor to a minor and indecent assault -- person substantially impaired were not prosecuted in exchange for the plea.
According to police, Bies brought alcoholic drinks to the home of a 15-year-old girl in March 2021.
"They both drank together and the victim advised that Chase pushed drinks on her to the point she became intoxicated and went to bed," according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The victim then reported that she felt Bies in bed with her, inappropriately touching her.
"She was afraid of him and pretended she was asleep until he was done," according to the affidavit.
District Attorney Rob Greene said he spoke with the victim and her mother and all parties are "in agreement" that the plea is "appropriate."
Hammond asked Bies' counsel, Kelvin Morris, why his client is pleading no contest.
"Because Mr. Bies is accepting responsibility," Morris said.
Hammond advised Bies that the maximum sentence includes up to seven years incarceration on the two charges. He also explained that Bies will be required to register as a sexual offender for 15 years.
