And several of the PennDOT trucks will feature artwork prepared by students in county schools.
That’s the result of the “Paint the Plow” program that has returned after a two-year hiatus. PennDOT says the program aims to promote “winter driving safety and fostering appreciation for high school art programs and student creativity.”
A total of 11 plows in PennDOT District 1 were decorated as part of the program.
That includes five in Warren County — Tidioute, Eisenhower, Youngsville, Sheffield and Warren.

“Earlier this year, PennDOT invited Forest, Mercer, Venango, and Warren county high school students to paint plow blades based on the statewide theme ‘Put Down the Device in Snow and Ice,'” PennDOT said in a statement.
“The theme was chosen to draw attention to the need for motorists to give driving their full attention and eliminate distractions, like cell phones, especially during winter weather events.”
That work is now out for public voting as part of a contest and the survey link can be found at penndot.pa.gov/district1. The survey can be found by clicking the “Paint the Plow” icon there.
Voting is open through Friday and the winner of the popular vote will be deemed “Fan Favorite.” PennDOT staff will also make the “Judges’ Pick.”
